Aloha Lions of District 50 Hawaii,
This year, I want to focus on making our clubs stronger, more effective, and more satisfying for our members. To do this, I'll be sharing valuable information and resources with club presidents throughout my term. I will also be asking for your help in working closely with your clubs. Please read my first message below and check out the new membership recruiting guide, Just Ask! Always keep in mind that younger members, women, community professionals, parents of Leos, family members or friends make great Lions. Together, we can help our clubs achieve new levels of success! Inviting new members is something that every Lion can do. Because there are a lot of people out there, like I was, just waiting to be asked. In order to help promote recruitment and mentoring of new members, I have created a new pin set that will recognize our district’s proud sponsors.
The Just Ask! New Member Recruiting Guide for Clubs is designed to help your club recruit new members. It gives your club the tools to create and implement a growth plan that's right for you. New members can help achieve your service goals, bring fresh ideas to the club, and ensure club health. An important link within the guide leads to: HOW ARE YOUR RATINGS? An Essential Evaluation Tool for Clubs. This tool has been used by Lion Ken Nishibun during the officer trainings and is an excellent way to begin the process of club strengthening. Your region chairpersons will be giving me an evaluation of each of their clubs and may ask that each club to use this tool. Even the best clubs maybe surprised to learn their level of membership satisfaction.
To improve membership satisfaction the Club Excellence Process (CEP) helps clubs become more effective in service, communication, and leadership. Essentially, CEP helps clubs do what they do better. CEP is now offered in two formats to meet the needs of our clubs: CEP Pro and CEP Lite. CEP Pro is a facilitator-led workshop. It’s designed for clubs that would like to have a trained Lion facilitator come in and guide members through the workshop. CEP Lite is a self-guided workshop. It’s designed for clubs that would prefer to have a member of their club lead the workshop. In either format, a participating club will examine its community’s needs, analyze its membership experience, identify club and LCI resources, and develop action plans to support your club goals. We are the leading service organization in the world but not in Hawaii as other service organizations have surpassed us in membership. We can change this in the coming year but it will take a cultural shift in thinking and a renewed commitment to better serve our communities. Let’s live the motto of IP Barry Palmer and follow our dreams.
