84th District 50 Lions Convention
April 30, May 1, May 2, 2020
Maui Beach Hotel
Aloha Lions of District 50,

Time stands still for no one, not even me!  Here it is………the time to send out information regarding
our convention for District 50 on our beautiful Valley Isle, Maui.

The convention committee has been working diligently to give you all a fantastic 3 days:
     •  Maui Beach Hotel will be the convention site.
     •  Our keynote speaker and official LCI visitor is International Director Lion Dr. Jose Marrero
from Puerto Rico, he will be our Keynote Speaker for Friday’s luncheon.
     •  Of course, we have Fun Night on Friday and I think they said to bring your paniolo hats and
boots and join us for boot scootin boogie, country western swing and more with Sacramento’s own
Bite the Bullet Band! One of the band members, Rob Shotwell, is a member of the Grass Valley Lions
         Club.
     •  Awards this year, from what I have been told, might be more than it has been, so join us for
         the Awards Luncheon on Saturday.
     •  To top it off we have the District Governors Banquet on Saturday night.
     •  Oh! I forgot the golfers, yes there will be golf on Thursday at Waiehu Golf Course, and we will
let you all know more details about entering the tournament soon.

We are also looking to do a community service project, just have not been able to finalize.

So, come on over to the Valley Isle and in case you need a reminder date the convention is April 30, May 1 & 2, 2020.

Regards, Angie Haramoto, District Governor

Blood Bank Of Hawaii
Pearl City Lions Club Blood Drive!
Saturday - November 16, 2019

Every 2 seconds someone needs blood.  200 donors are needed each day in order for the Blood Bank of Hawaii to meet the demand of Hawaii's patients in the 18 civilian hospitals that we supply blood to throughout the state.  Sadly, only 2% of Hawaii’s population actually donates blood.

The Pearl City Lions will be hosting a blood drive on Saturday, November 16, 2019.  Hawaii's patients are counting on them to bring in 20 lifesaving pints.  Just ONE donation can save THREE lives!  This means up to 60 lives could be saved with this one lifesaving event!  However, according to the appointments currently set, it doesn't look as though that will be possible.  Doctors will need to make the difficult decisions about which patients to service first if the 20 lifesaving pints they were responsible for bringing in aren't collected.  We are counting on YOU to change that outcome.  If you haven't signed up to make a donation yet, please do so by:

1.Clicking on this link to make an appointment:

          https://www.bbhdonor.org/index.cfm?group=op&step=2&opid=21323&opidh=81133697D7E79ADC5869A1CAD8D9F082&idt=43780.5488889

2.Contacting the Blood Bank of Hawaii at (808) 848-4770

Let's not make anyone have to worry about whether they'll live to see tomorrow.  Donating blood is safe, simple, and it saves lives.  YOU have the power to give the gift of life to those who can't fight for themselves.  I look forward to meeting you at this lifesaving event this Saturday!

Happy Holidays!
