2018 District Convention on May 3-5, 2018 at the Grand Naniloa Hotel in Hilo
Dear D50 Lions!

On behalf of District Governor Blayne, CIS Linda, and his District Convention Planning Committee, I welcome you to attend your 2018 District Convention in Hilo on May 3-5, 2018 to "honor our past and embrace our future" as we celebrate 100 years of service and greet the New Century of Lionism here in Hawaii and throughout the world!

The newly-renovated Grand Naniloa Hotel, a Double-Tree resort under the Hilton Brand, nestled between the panoramic Hilo Bay and the verdant and Internationally renown Queen Liliuokalani Garden, will be the proud host site of this year's District 50 Convention!  Our Planning Committee has been diligently working over the past 2 and half years to ensure that you will experience the magic of the Big Island, its people and magnificent landscape while we all celebrate our dedicated service to others!

For our avid Lion golfers, a fun golf tournament is being arranged for you onThursday morning, May 3. Our final (4th) Cabinet Meeting will be held later that afternoon at the Grand Naniloa's Ho`malimali Room.  That evening, we will transport you to our Flag Ceremony at Aunty Sally's Luau Hale, where we will share the rich history of the state flag of International Director Nicolas Xinopoulos, our LCI dignitary from the great state of Indiana and that of our State.

Friday, an informational session, along with presentations, and our always-touching necrology ceremony will precede our Keynote Luncheon by ID Nicolas Xinopoulos.  Immediately after our noon session, we ask you to put the finishing touches on our long-anticipated District Legacy Project at the famed peace park,Queen Liliuokalani Garden.  A Legacy Project Ceremony, with local and state leaders will join you to officially unveil our D50 Legacy Project, supported by the generosity of LCIF's Grant.  Your Friday will end with a night of illusion, magic, comedy and inspiration by Mr. Billy Riggs and some local Lion entertainers!

Not to be outdone by the previous day, Saturday's closing plenary will include special presentations, acknowledgments and yes, our exciting demonstrations, election, speeches and the welcoming of our Incoming District Governor Bob Lee and his administration!  After our Awards Luncheon (don't miss it!) the 2018 District Convention's culminating events continue with the first Centennial Celebration Walk around the Queen Liliuokalani Garden with over 25 service providers, service organizations, business and community leaders.  A Centennial Jam immediately following our walk will include top local entertainers, appreciative beneficiaries of your service, and a recognition program to honor our community-minded businesses.  For your convenience, an "Omiyage" (gift) and Mini Craft Fair will be selling your favorite Big Island products to bring home to your families and friends!

Of course, we officially end our 2018 Convention with our Saturday EveningAnnual District Governor Banquet!  This year, we promise you a night of appreciation, recognition, pomp and lasting memories!

Attached, please find our Registration Form and some updated information on what was presented earlier.  More information will be uploaded to our D50 Website as they become finalized.

Mahalo and we look forward to seeing you in Hilo!

Yours in Lionism,

Lion Diane Kent, Chairperson
